⚙️ Latest OS Updates

Apple has released the latest updates for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, visionOS, and tvOS, plus some minor updates for older versions of those operating systems. (That's a lot of operating systems!)
The updates aren’t very exciting and include the following:
Parents now receive a notification when the Screen Time passcode is used on a child's device.
A new Pride Harmony wallpaper and watch face.
Buy with iPhone is available when purchasing content within the Apple TV app on a non-Apple device.
tvOS now supports synchronizing Dolby Atmos playback to speakers over AirPlay or Bluetooth.
The watchOS update resolves an issue that prevented the iPhone from showing a notification when the Apple Watch battery is fully charged.
Support for carrier-provided satellite features is available on iPhone 13 models.
And of course, there are plenty of bug fixes, security updates, and performance improvements.
You can install the updates in the Software Update section of Settings (or System Settings on macOS).
💰️ Siri Lawsuit Settled; Go Get Some Money
If you used Siri between 2014 and 2024, you may be eligible to make a claim against Apple.
In 2019, it was revealed that Apple contractors heard private conversations its customers were having after Siri was accidentally triggered.
The issue came to light after a whistleblower, who was part of Siri's human reviewers program, told The Guardian they had heard very sensitive conversations. Apple acknowledged the program and said fewer than 1% of Siri interactions were reviewed.
It was no surprise that a class action lawsuit followed and that was settled in January of this year for $95 million.
You may be in line for a claim if you experienced Siri accidentally trigger during a conversation you intended to be private. Payouts are capped at $20 per Siri device, and you can claim up to five devices with a total cap of $100. Remember that your actual payout will depend on the number of claims submitted. The deadline for submitting claims is July 2, 2025.
You can read more about it and submit your claim on this website. https://www.lopezvoiceassistantsettlement.com
✍️ The 10 Day Journaling Challenge
Journaling can be a great way to achieve clarity and calmness and improve one's well-being, but it can also feel overwhelming.
My friend Joe Moyer has spent a lot of time researching and experimenting with ways to make it more approachable. The fruit of his labor is his new 10-Day Journaling Challenge.
Sign up for his free guided email course and get a simple and easy-to-follow journaling prompt delivered to your inbox every morning for 10 days. It's a great opportunity to experiment. As Joe likes to say, your story matters.
PS - Our most popular episode of Basic AF is the one we did on journaling with Joe last October. You can listen to that here.

I’ve queued up an AI podcast app experiment, and Jeff’s wondering if it’s really worth the $85 price tag. We dive into Snipd’s AI-powered podcast magic, how it pairs with Readwise for smart highlights and spaced repetition, and my experiment for “listening” to podcasts while I’m sleeping.
Plus, we talk about the Siri lawsuit that might earn you a few bucks, Apple’s App Store rule changes, and why longtime fans (and cranky nerds) are raising eyebrows at Apple’s recent stumbles. Is it time for new leadership?
